TECHNICAL DRAWING WITH SPEEDSTEP

 Develop product analysis drawing skills and use SpeedStep to turn them into quality technical drawings for textile/fashion products.

PREVIOUS TRAINING IN THE USE OF SPEEDSTEP IS ESSENTIAL.

TIME   :     9.30am coffee, 10.00am start—3.30pm finish.

COST  :     FREE – Tea/Coffee provided but please bring own lunch

 

COURSE CONTENT:

  • Using ProSketch on Windows 7/working with the student version
  • Reviewing the use of observational drawing within product analysis of textile items
  • Using the freehand drawn images within ProSketch
  • Adding technical details – working from examples
  • Creating an A3 development sheet using the Object Library.

 

 

This is a practical course – you will have to draw and no one minds whether you are any good or not!

It is aimed at helping teachers to get better quality and more accurate drawings from students – especially at KS4 and 5, thus improving the design sections of controlled assessment.

A range of exemplar work and resources will be available to look at during the day.

PLEASE BRING A LAPTOP – THERE IS NO COMPUTER SUITE AT THIS VENUE.

Having spent 10 years working within the Fashion and Textiles industry, Heidi has worked as a Design and Technology teacher in Berkshire and the Midlands. She has taught courses across all key stages, both academic and vocational, and has been actively using SpeedStep since 2003.  She now works as a freelance consultant, promoting the use of SpeedStep as a valuable tool within CAD/CAM in Textiles and sees it as a vital element in ensuring the survival of Textiles within the curriculum. Heidi has written many resources for textiles teachers which include the use of SpeedStep as the CAD element within the projects.
